Introduction
To many students, preparing for a PTE or IELTS English proficiency test can seem like an overwhelming journey at first—and it typically takes the average student several months of dedicated studying, practice and figuring out where they need improvement before attempting the real test. Many of the traditional methods that students utilize to prepare do not included customized feedback on user performance, complete simulations of the real exam nor do they provide any concrete steps for the student to implement as they progress towards their end goal.
Most students are also unable to assess themselves accurately regarding their areas of weakness, track their progress, or anticipate whether they will successfully pass their final exam. As a result, students experience an considerable amount of extra preparation time and a considerable amount of wasted time on studying ineffective materials and still have high levels of frustration with their ability to feel confident about achieving success.
To help these students, we created Paradigm24, an AI-based PTE and IELTS preparation tool, to provide them with a more effective learning experience that is faster and more personalized than ever. Combining artificial intelligence with natural language processing (NLP), predictive analytics, and the ability to evaluate a student’s performance in real-time, students will have a more effective way to prepare for the exam, which will also provide them with greater confidence in achieving their desired score.
This case study discusses the problems that students face, the solutions we created, and the measurable results that were achieved by using Paradigm24.
The Challenge
PTE and IELTS preparation for many students includes multiple study materials, coaching sessions, practice papers and mock exams, but although these are great resources, they often don’t offer the instant, individualized guidance that many students need to quickly increase their scores.
According to the client, many students are facing the following common challenges:

Many students spent 4-5 months preparing for the exam with little to no visible progress. When learners do receive feedback from educators, it is usually several weeks behind, making it challenging for them to correct errors and improve in an efficient manner.
The objective was to develop a platform that closely mimics real exam conditions, provides instant feedback and uses AI to direct learners towards improved learning performance.
Our Solution
To address the above challenges, we created Paradigm24, an AI-powered platform that focuses exclusively on PTE and IELTS exam preparation.
Paradigm24 uses state-of-the-art technologies—artificial intelligence (AI), natural language processing (NLP), predictive analytics and automated scoring systems—to give each student a customized, personalized learning experience.

We wanted to design our platform so that it replicates an actual test as closely as possible.
Our full-length practice tests within the Paradigm24 system replicate a real PTE or IELTS exam with respect to structure, timing, and difficulty, thus allowing students to practice in an atmosphere that resembles the actual test. This helps students prepare for their exam more effectively and reduces test-related stress levels.
AI-Based Evaluation System
In most cases, students will have to wait for their instructor to evaluate their responses for the speaking and writing sections during the traditional preparation process.
With Paradigm24, AI evaluates responses instantly and provides students with an evaluation of their responses across several assessment criteria, giving them the ability to quickly see what areas they need to improve on.
This allows students to continue learning without having to wait for an instructor to evaluate their work.
NLP-Based Speaking and Writing Evaluation
Natural Language Processing (NLP) is a key component in evaluating language proficiency.
The NLP engine of the Paradigm24 provides students with detailed evaluations of their speaking fluency, pronunciation, use of grammar, vocabulary usage, sentence construction, and quality of writing. As a result, students receive detailed feedback that is specific to their individual performance rather than generic test scores, allowing them to know exactly how to improve.
By providing this type of personalized evaluation of students’ work, we believe that students will be able to learn more efficiently.
Predictive Question Analysis
This system looks at exam data for trends, question types, and student performance over time in order to improve the exam-taking experience for each student by allowing students to know which subjects or question types to focus their attention on first when studying, thus maximizing their time understanding and preparing for the question types with the highest impact on their scores.
Intelligent Performance Dashboard
Each student learns at a different pace, so we are developing a smart performance dashboard.
The performance dashboard provides the student a complete overview of:
Test scores and performance trends,
Strengths and areas needing improvement
Skill-by-skill breakdown of performance
Growth and development over time
Study recommendations based on their test scores
Readiness to take the exam
These features enable students to make educated choices about how to approach preparing for their exams and to provide accountability during the learning process.
Ongoing Performance Monitoring
Rather than waiting until periods of limited assessment time to evaluate students’ level of learning, Paradigm24 consistently tracks student progress.
Each time a student completes a final test, practice test, or additional resource associated with exams that they want to prepare for, Paradigm24 provides real time feedback to the student by updating performance measurement and suggesting what they should work on next to continue to excel at the level they are capable of and to prepare for the exam they want to take.
Results
Paradigm24 produced noteworthy enhancement in both exam performance and efficiency in learning.
Reduced Preparation Time by Nearly 50%
Reduction in the amount of traditional time (4 to 5 months) it had taken a student to prepare to take a test (e.g. PTE, IELTS) and to reach the point where they were ready to take the test became 2 to 2.5 months and was due to the combination of immediate feedback received by students, learner paths that were highly personalized, and the accelerated pace at which students were able to learn (i.e. using AI driven recommendations).
30-40% Accuracy Improvement
Improvements in test accuracy were achieved by students continuously practicing using test taking strategies, receiving ongoing recommendations from instructors based upon performance results and participating in an ongoing review of performance results.
The Paradigm24 platform helped improve students’ performance in each of the areas (i.e. listening, reading and writing) through reinforcing weaknesses in their performances leading to enhancements of approximately 30 to 40% in overall performance improvements.
200+ Students Assisted with Target Scores
Paradigm24 successfully provided assistance to more than 200 students in achieving their desired target score ranges on either the PTE or IELTS examination.
The delivery of data-driven learning recommendations and real time data enabled students to increase their preparedness and confidence.
Increased Student Engagement
The nature of the platform being interactive increased students’ ability to remain engaged and practice more often and throughout their preparation.
Students have indicated that they valued immediate feedback while they were engaged in practice, were able to see their results/results tracking, and received study plan recommendations – this contributed significantly to the success of each student.
Data-Driven Learning Experience
Instead of relying on guesswork, students could make preparation decisions based on real performance data.
This data-driven approach improved learning efficiency and reduced the uncertainty that often accompanies exam preparation.
